Laminated knife handle materials

 DYMONDWOOD

This brand of laminated wood is manufactured to produce a very unique material, which has the natural beauty of finished wood and still provide a high resistance to heat and moisture. Impregnated with clear resin and bonded under tremendous pressure it becomes dimensionally stable.
It works well with power and hand tools and needs only sanding and buffing with noncoloring rouge (white) to achieve high polish.

Suppliers cut up the larger panels into their own sizes and have own in-house names / descriptions for the same material.

 PAKKAWOOD

Pakawood is an ideal handle and grip material, consisting of laminated veneers of select hardwood which is impregnated with dyes and phenolic resins and bonded under tremendous pressure and high temperature. The resulting material is resistant to moisture and heat-dishwasher safe.
It works well with power and hand tools and needs only sanding and buffing for high polish.

 BONE / BLACK - PAPER MICARTA

It is made by Westinghouse and it will not yellow with age as the old Micarta did.
It is a sturdy material, that will last for years.
Needs to be worked at the slower speed than the old ivory Micarta to prevent cracking.
Scrimshaws and polishes really well.

SCALES & SHEETS	1/8", 1/4" and 3/8",5"x12" and 10"x12".
COLOR	Bone White, but it also comes in Black Paper.

 LINEN MICARTA

This is just another variety of Micarta - phenolic resin filled with sheets of linen then formed by heat and great pressure into sheets or blocks.

  CANVAS MICARTA

Canvas Micarta is a material similar to normal Micarta in that it is composed of a phenolic resin filled with shreds of canvas, than formed by pressure and heat into blocks.
It is greenish brown in color.

Burgundy or Black canvas look.
Looks like canvas Micarta. Texas Knifemaker's Supply calls it TEX-TUFF because it is hard and tough. It is a very dense material, which can be sawed, drilled, sanded or polished.
It is good looking stuff ideal for light weight folders without bolsters.
Safety - Do not forget to wear a respirator when working it.

This is new Fiber-glass-epoxy material. It is very tough, use new belts to work it.
Safety note - Wear a respirator to prevent breathing dust and glass fibers
