 PARFIX ®    Cyanoacrylate Adhesives
  PARFIX ®    Cyanoacrylate Adhesives

PARFIX Cyanoacrylate adhesives offers a major advantage over other type of adhesive systems.
They are a single component adhesives, fast curing at room temperature, solvent free and resistant to many environmental factors.
Cyanoacrylates are based on a wide range of different acetates with the smallest molecule size being methyl followed by ethyl and then the larger size such as butyl etc.
In general the smaller the molecule the greater the overall strength and faster the speed of cure.
The main advantage of the higher molecular weight ester is less odor, reduced 'blooming' and slightly more flexibility.

- How They Work

  - Cyanoacrylates are kept in their liquid form when in the bottle by the use of acidic stabilizer. Polymerization
(solidification) in most cases takes place under the influence of trace moisture on the surface of the substrate.
As the two surfaces are brought together the moisture on the surface helps to neutralize the acidic stabilizer,
which results in fast adhesion. The curing mechanism can be affected by the following:
- Ambient humidity is too low
- High acidic levels on surface of substrate
- Dirty surface
- Correct cleaning and preparation of the surface is therefore vital for successful binding. Non-polar surfaces such as
polypropylene are difficult to bond and require special preparation.

In general a little goes a long way. One average size drop from our standard bottle will cover 2.5 cm. Using Cyanoacrylate adhesives only requires a small amount, the thinner the bond line the better the overall performance.

- Advantages

          - One part adhesive
- Solvent free
- Fast curing at room temperature
- High tensile shear strength
- reduced material thickness, uniform loading over bond area
- Resistant to a wide range of chemicals
- Many different grades to suit various applications, from water thin to gels
- Surpasses most other types of adhesives of for bonding rubbers.
- Following are some of our most popular grades. We are also able to
produce other materials including very high viscosity grades, toughened
grades, high temperature grades, colored grades and low odor/low bloom
        grades.

- PARFIX 3420

            - Extra low viscosity ethyl monomer 3-5 cps. Very fast curing, used as
a 'wicking grade' due to its low viscosity. Applications are from
            fabric bonding to rubber bonding.
- PARFIX 3406
Low viscosity surface insensitive Cyanoacrylate 15-30 cps. Super
fast grade for bonding difficult materials such as EPDM and
materials that are slightly acidic by nature
- PARFIX 3495
Low Viscosity ethyl based 30-50 cps. Fast curing general-purpose
grade, for closely fitted parts. Slightly thicker than a wicking
grade. Bonds most materials including rubbers and metals.
- PARFIX 3401
Medium viscosity surface insensitive Cyanoacrylate 80-100 cps.
This grade is formulated for bonding materials such as wood,
            cardboard, leather and cork.
- PARFIX 3424
Medium viscosity ethyl 100-120 cps. General purpose grade that
is fast setting with very good performance on most materials
including balsa wood, cork and most plastic and rubbers.
- PARFIX 3416
High viscosity ethyl 1200-1800 cps. A slightly slower curing
grade to allow limited re-alignment of components. Will bond most
rubbers, plastics, cork and wood. This grade will also allow a gap
            fill up to 0.2 mm.
- PARFIX 3422
High viscosity ethyl 2000-2500 cps. A slow curing grade allows
time for realignment and slip fit. Applications include porous
surfaces and wire tacking when used with an activator.
- PARFIX 3409
General-purpose ethyl based gel, with non-slump characteristics.
Can be applied vertical surfaces. Will not run or drip. Will bond
most materials from fabrics to wood. Fill gaps up to 0.25 mm.

| (*) Poor to reasonable performance (***) Recommended
 |
| The above should use as guide, some grades perform
better when used to bond different materials such as metal to rubber, other
have better shelf life under difficult conditions.
